We're exploring ways to investigate cities & environments & share knowledge using the tools of the internet and mobile platforms.
The 1st walkshopbcn was an exploration of the networked city led by Adam Greenfield & Nurri Kim.
"What we’re looking for are appearances of the networked digital in the physical, and vice versa: apertures through which the things that happen in the real world drive the “network weather”, and contexts in which that weather affects what people see, confront and are able to do.
Systems/Layers is a half-day “walkshop” organized by Citilab and Do projects held in two parts. The first portion of the activity is dedicated to a slow and considered walk through a reasonably dense and built-up section of the city at hand. This portion of the day will take around 90 minutes, after which we gather in a convenient “command post” to map, review and discuss the things we’ve encountered.
What we're doing now is trying to create a methodology based on that experience and in this case adapting it to education as part of the Mozilla Drumbeat Festival
"This walkshop consists in a shared active exploration around streets and squares near the Raval as a learning zone (looking for signs, hardware, graffitis, marks, images, special spots in general) in order to prepare a digital "gymkhana" as a learning activity for youth/tourists/geeks.
A meta-activity oriented to apply a method to different learning subjects (history, society, culture, architecture, art, etc) while the learners walk around a urban context. For this purpose we will establish a random circuit with marks (QR codes) that once processed show images/videos/texts that may take to a next spot.
These inputs could be sent by mobile devices and published on the go on a blog (and could be afterwards geolocated, as well as generating a QR code).
